Whilst all children are loved and cared for equally by their parents and their teachers, we understand that they are all different. All children are created in God's image and are therefore of equal worth in His view. Because Covenant College strives to be an inclusive school, we acknowledge that wherever possible all children should learn together regardless of differences; that all children can learn and achieve their potential; and that the continuum of students’ needs should be match by a continuum of programs, support and services.
Covenant College has a dedicated Learning Support team that assists students through a range of styles that include in-class assistance and/or withdrawal assistance in small groups or individually. Students who need substantial adjustments to their curriculum will have an Individual Learning Plan created for them. This I.L.P. may include academic goals and/or behaviour goals.
One program used to assist students is called Fast ForWord and develops and strengthens memory, attention, processing rate, and sequencing—the cognitive skills essential for reading and learning success. It also includes a wide range of critical language and reading skills such as phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, decoding, working memory, syntax and grammar.
All Learning Support is designed to assist students to achieve their God given potential.
